From age 5 to 35 my very identity was wrapped up in surviving life, as my whole existence seemed so very barbaric to an initiate like me.

 

But on a closer inspection of my own ideas of myself I see I've had a scholarly image in other people's view, which to me means my profile as a British citizen is imbued with dignity and respect for the socially disadvantaged in life.

 

So maybe my parents raised a child who from age 1 onwards had a strong personal conscience bred into him, with many, many years of hard graft and difficult experiences surmounting to a man with an indellable sense of clarity and innate conviction in people.
